Citizenship Applications backlog update from USCIS.
The USCIS states that the backlog in citizenship applications should come current by the fall of this year.
An article was posted by Miami Herald on April 24, 2008, can be found here at Miami Herald
The article states that in citizenship offices such as Los Angeles, Miami, and Washington D.C., USCIS officials expected there to be a backlog for over a year and a half after this past summer’s fee hike.
As a result, USCIS has employed and trained more people for the citizenship offices and have had better success in eliminating the backlog than expected.
The last surge due to a fee hike was estimated to be around a 350% increase in the volume of applications.
